Welcome to the official blog of Jonathan Anthony Burkett: entrepreneur, author, poet and music artist. This is the home for his words. You will find his quotes, his books, his music and the story that ties them together.

“I live to inspire, not start the fire.”
— Jonathan Anthony Burkett

Who he is

Jonathan Anthony Burkett was born in Miami, Florida and raised in Jamaica by his grandparents. He grew up with economic hardship and serious health challenges, including brain surgery in January 2006. He decided early that none of it would define him, and that decision runs through everything he makes.

He is the author of the memoir Neglected But Undefeated, the Friends 2 Lovers series and the novel Fighting To Become Champions. He records inspirational hip hop and soul on his own label, Upstormed Records. He founded Upstormed LLC and the Upstormed family of online stores.

Why quotes

Readers on Goodreads have been collecting lines from his books for years. They write about faith, forgiveness, friendship, love and the decision to keep going. This blog brings those lines together in one place, each credited to the book it comes from, so they are easy to read, save and share.

“Anger makes you smaller, while forgiveness forces you to grow beyond who you were.”
— Jonathan Anthony Burkett, Neglected But Undefeated

“Faith doesn't get you around problems in life and relationships, it gets you through it.”
— Jonathan Anthony Burkett, Friends 2 Lovers: The Unthinkable
